Ningbo Fangli Technology Co., Ltd. is a machinery manufacturer with over 30 years of experience in plastic pipe extrusion equipment, as well as new environmental protection and new materials machinery. Since its establishment, Fangli has been committed to meeting user needs through continuous improvement, independent R&D in core technologies, and the absorption of advanced global practices. The company has developed PVC pipe extrusion lines, PP-R pipe extrusion lines, and PE water supply/gas pipe extrusion lines, which were recommended by the Ministry of Construction of China as replacements for imported products. Fangli has also been honored with the title of "First-class Brand in Zhejiang Province."

With the rapid advancement of PE pipe extrusion technology, the overall performance of PE pipes has been greatly enhanced, driving growing market demand. Today, PE pipes are widely used in more than ten industries, including water supply, natural gas, and fuel gas transportation.

Typical Production Process of a PE Pipe Extrusion Line

The main production sequence is as follows:

Raw material and additive preparation → Mixing → Conveying and feeding → Forced feeding → Single-screw extrusion → Extrusion head forming → Sizing sleeve calibration Spray vacuum calibration tank Spray or immersion cooling tank → Digital printing → Belt or crawler tractorCutting machine → Pipe stacking table or coiler → Finished product inspection and packaging

As indicated above, the overall process involves multiple stages, and insufficient process control can easily lead to product defects. From a process engineering perspective, special attention should be paid to the following key factors:

1. Temperature Control

Temperature is a critical factor affecting product quality. If the temperature is too low, the raw material will not melt adequately, compromising the mechanical properties and surface quality of the final product. Conversely, excessive temperatures may cause polymer degradation and unstable material flow, making the extrusion process difficult to manage.

2. Screw Speed and Back Pressure Adjustment

Screw speed directly influences both output and product quality. Increasing the speed raises extrusion volume and shear force, which can enhance plasticization. However, excessively high speeds shorten the residence time of the material within the screw, potentially reducing product strength. Back pressure, on the other hand, adjusts the mixing intensity and shear level, thereby affecting plasticization performance. Different back pressure levels can be achieved by modifying the breaker plate, screen pack, and other components of the extruder.

3. Haul-off Speed Regulation

Precise control of the haul-off speed is essential in the extrusion process. This parameter directly affects the wall thickness of the pipe. In addition, it also influences the cross-sectional dimensions and the cooling efficiency of the finished product. In practice, haul-off speed should be dynamically adjusted in line with extrusion rate, cooling capacity, and target specifications to ensure consistent dimensions and stable quality.
